The Secret No One Tells You
Diabetes Management Happens Between Medical Appointments
Your physician may explain your A1C, prescribe medication, and tell you that nutrition matters. Then you return to grocery shopping, work lunches, family dinners, restaurants, travel, hunger, and a hundred decisions that do not fit neatly into a handout.
Nutrition coaching helps with that day-to-day implementation. I support adults with Type 2 diabetes in San Diego who want a practical way to organize meals, respond to challenges, and build habits that complement the care provided by their licensed medical team.
A Flexible Approach to Carbohydrates
There is no single protocol I apply to every client because metabolic struggles rarely have one cause. For some the missing piece is blood sugar regulation. For others it’s digestion, stress physiology, inflammation, hormone shifts, undernourishment, sleep, or a nervous system stuck in survival mode. We look at the full picture and create tailored recommendations based on what your body needs.
Managing Type 2 diabetes does not automatically mean eliminating carbohydrates. Food type, portion, timing, meal balance, activity, medication, and individual response all matter. We work toward choices you understand and can repeat rather than a set of rules that leaves you anxious, hungry, or socially isolated.
Nutrition coaching is not medical nutrition therapy when that is required, and it does not replace diabetes education, diagnosis, glucose monitoring, or medication management. When your needs fall outside coaching scope, I will encourage care from the appropriate licensed professional.
